Food, Mood & Substance Use Symposium

The Food, Mood, and Substance Use Symposium brought together nutrition and behavioral health professionals who practice in rural areas to provide services through SNAP-Education, Cooperative Extension, Prevention, Harm Reduction, Treatment and/or Recovery Support organizations. Leading experts from the fields of nutrition and behavioral health disciplines facilitated presentations and discussions to foster a greater understanding of how to address opioid/stimulant use in rural communities; understand how food, nutrition, trauma and stigma impact treatment and recovery; and how each discipline can work collaboratively to inform each other’s work in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, and the Pacific Jurisdictions.
